Last Breath
One man's impossible fight for survival.
Synopsis
Last Breath (2019) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM. September 2012, the floor of the North Sea, over a hundred metres down: a diver is cut off from his ship with barely five minutes of oxygen left.
Commercial diver Chris Lemons was repairing a pipeline when a storm knocked the support vessel off position and pulled hard on his umbilical line. The cable snapped. Lemons dropped back to the seabed — no communications, no light, just a small emergency tank — while help could not physically reach him for more than half an hour. Directors Alex Parkinson and Richard Da Costa built the film from genuine dive-cam and ship footage, woven together with the people who lived it, above and below.
The 86 minutes play like a tight thriller, except every second of it really happened. The calm, almost matter-of-fact way the crew recall that night only winds the tension tighter. For anyone who loves survival stories and documentary stripped of gloss, this one is essential. Stream Last Breath (2019) online on iFILM.
