About
Synopsis
Deep Blue (2003) is a BBC Natural History Unit ocean documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Alastair Fothergill and Andy Byatt. Four years of filming across forty seas brought the crew from polar ice fields to abyssal depths three kilometres below the surface.
The footage — sharks at coastal walls, sperm whales hunting in total darkness, creatures from the permanent-midnight zone — was drawn from the same expedition that produced the Blue Planet television series. The theatrical cut compresses that archive into 83 minutes, scored by George Fenton and narrated by Michael Gambon. Pierce Brosnan voiced a separate North American release.
