Ducoboo

Ducoboo (L'Élève Ducobu, 2011) is a French family comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Philippe de Chauveron. Based on the long-running Belgian comic strip by Zidrou and Godi, it follows Ducoboo — the school's proudest underachiever — as he faces expulsion and responds by inventing increasingly elaborate ways to cheat.

Monsieur Latuche, his teacher, thinks he has the measure of Ducoboo. He doesn't. Léonie, the top student whose answers everyone wants to copy, is running out of patience. The three circle each other in a classroom war that escalates from session to session.

Élie Semoun plays Latuche with the right mixture of pomposity and exasperation, and the film keeps the slapstick grounded in something recognisable. Kids cheer for Ducoboo; adults quietly admit they understand him. Stream Ducoboo (2011) online on iFILM.
