Synopsis
The Invisible Boy (Il ragazzo invisibile, 2014) is Gabriele Salvatores' Italian family fantasy, ready to watch online on iFILM. Michele is thirteen, shy, easy to overlook, and quietly in love with a classmate named Stella who barely registers he exists.
Everything shifts after Halloween. Pulling on a cheap costume for a party, Michele discovers he can turn invisible. At first it plays like a gift, a way to finally get close to Stella and turn the tables on the bullies who push him around. But the power drags hard questions behind it: who his parents really are, and why strangers suddenly start hunting him. His adoptive mother (Valeria Golino) clearly knows more than she lets on.
Salvatores, an Oscar winner for Mediterraneo, made something rare for Europe here, a teenage superhero story without the Hollywood gloss, grounded in a real, rain-grey Turin rather than a generic skyline. The mood stays warm and a little melancholy, light on spectacle but strong on character. It is a solid pick for a family night with older kids who have grown tired of the usual blockbuster routine.
