Synopsis
My Life in Pink (Ma vie en rose, 1997) is a French-Belgian drama you can watch online on iFILM. Seven-year-old Ludovic is certain he was meant to be a girl, and that nature's mistake will soon be put right.
The child waits for a miracle and meets confusion instead. Neighbors whisper, his father loses his job, and his parents swing between love and the urge to push their son back into line. Director Alain Berliner films it all from Ludo's point of view, through candy-colored daydreams of a favorite doll, where the world finally makes sense. Georges Du Fresne plays the boy, Michèle Laroque his mother.
Berliner's debut took the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. It handles childhood, intolerance and the right to be yourself without lecturing or cheap tears, which is why its gentle, fairy-tale tone lands so hard against such heavy material. If you want quiet European cinema about family, start here. Stream My Life in Pink online on iFILM.
