Synopsis
"Mountain Miracle" (Amelie rennt, 2017) is a German-Italian family adventure to watch online on iFILM. Director Tobias Wiemann follows Amelie, a teenager with asthma sent to a clinic in South Tyrol, who decides on day one that the place is a prison worth escaping. Mia Kasalo plays Amelie; Denis Moschitto and Susanne Bormann handle the adult roles.
Outside the clinic, Amelie meets a local boy who knows the mountain paths and tells her about a peak above the valley where, according to old Tyrolean custom, the sick can be healed. Getting there means forests, cliff trails and conversations Amelie has been avoiding.
It moves at a good clip and does not talk down to its audience. The Dolomites scenery is genuinely striking, the kids are believable, and the film earns its ending. Solid for family viewing with children aged eight and up. Stream "Mountain Miracle" (2017) online on iFILM.
