Synopsis
Forty Guns (1957) is Samuel Fuller's black-and-white Western you can watch online on iFILM. In Cochise County, Arizona, everything runs through Jessica Drummond — a wealthy rancher who backs her word with forty hired gunmen.
Into her territory rides Griff Bonnell, a former gunfighter turned lawman, with his two brothers along for the ride. He's come on official business, which puts him squarely against the county's untouchable cattle queen. Attraction flares between them, but peace won't hold: both sides have trigger-happy younger brothers itching for blood. Barbara Stanwyck took the lead and did her own stunt, dragged along the ground by a runaway horse.
Fuller shoots it fast and brazen: a sweeping track down the town's main drag, a shot framed through a rifle sight, images later borrowed by Godard and Tarantino. A late studio-era Western that hands the power and the guns to a woman — in 1957, no less. Essential for genre fans and film buffs alike. Stream Forty Guns online on iFILM.
