Synopsis
3:10 to Yuma (1957) is a lean, tightly wound Western you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Delmer Daves and starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin. Outlaw Ben Wade is caught after a stagecoach robbery. A cash-strapped farmer named Dan Evans agrees to escort him to the 3:10 train — the one that ends at the Yuma prison. Wade's gang is already riding to intercept them.
The film spends most of its running time locked inside a hotel room: Wade in cuffs, Evans with a rifle, and a few hours to fill before the train arrives. Ford plays Wade as a man who is relaxed precisely because he knows he always wins — charming, patient, and quietly dangerous. Heflin's Evans is the opposite: tense, broke, trying not to show how frightened he is. Their conversations do more damage than any gunfight.
Based on an Elmore Leonard short story, this is one of the Western genre's cleanest psychological duels — the action almost incidental to the question of why one honest man refuses to back down. Stream 3:10 to Yuma (1957) online on iFILM.
