Synopsis
Rotting in the Sun (2023) is Sebastián Silva's pitch-black comedy-mystery, available to watch online on iFILM. Silva directs and plays a version of himself: an artist stuck creatively and personally, dulling the dread with ketamine, who heads to a Mexican gay nudist beach to feel something again.
There he runs into loud Instagram personality Jordan Firstman, also playing himself, who talks him into making a show together. Then one of them vanishes, and the movie swaps genres mid-stride for a jittery hunt across Mexico City. Catalina Saavedra steals the back half as a housekeeper who quietly holds the whole truth.
The tagline says it plainly — "a (almost) true mystery." This is brash, full-frontal, deliberately rude festival cinema, not one for the squeamish, with Silva roasting his own art-world bubble harder than anyone else would dare. Stream Rotting in the Sun (2023) online on iFILM.
