Downrange

Downrange (2018) is an American horror-thriller directed by Ryûhei Kitamura — watch it online on iFILM. The setup takes about three minutes: a group of travellers stops to change a blown tyre on a deserted road. Then the shooting starts. A sniper, somewhere in the tree line. Patient. Methodical.

That's the whole arena. The film never leaves that stretch of road, and it doesn't explain who is shooting or why. The six people crouched behind the car are strangers to each other, with no weapons and dwindling options. Stephanie Pearson, Kelly Connaire and Alexa Yeames lead a cast of relative unknowns — which means no one comes with plot armour visible from the first scene.

Kitamura, known for high-energy action, strips everything back here and lets the geometry of cover, exposure and blind luck do the work. The result is blunt and precise. No supernatural angle, no twist ending — just very bad odds on an empty road. Stream Downrange (2018) online on iFILM.
