Synopsis
In the Aisles (In den Gängen, 2018) is a German drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Thomas Stuber and starring Franz Rogowski, Sandra Hüller, and Peter Kurth. Christian is a guarded young man from Leipzig who takes a night-shift job stocking shelves at a massive wholesale store — his first real workplace, his first real community.
His trainer Bruno, a quietly melancholy former truck driver, teaches him the forklift and slowly draws him out. Then there is Marion from the confectionery aisle. Christian falls for her immediately and says nothing, because she is married. The film runs 125 minutes and earns most of them through glances, hesitations, and the particular loneliness of fluorescent-lit nights.
Stuber made something rare here: a working-class romance with no melodrama and no irony, just people who wheel pallets through empty aisles and occasionally let themselves dance to the radio. Rogowski carries the film on almost no dialogue, and it works. Stream In the Aisles on iFILM.
