The closer the gold, the clearer it gets that the danger isn't only over the next ridge — it's inside the party, where every man is keeping his own private tally.

Gary Cooper plays the coolest head of the bunch, alongside Susan Hayward and a sardonic, unpredictable Richard Widmark; a young Rita Moreno appears in a small role.
