Last of the Renegades

Last of the Renegades (Winnetou 2. Teil, 1964) is a classic European western you can watch online on iFILM. A ruthless oil baron named Forester schemes to push the native tribes and white settlers into open war, betting that the chaos will let him seize the land beneath them.

Standing in his way are Winnetou, the Apache chief played by Pierre Brice, and his blood brother Old Shatterhand, played by Lex Barker — two men who hold a given word above any profit. Their hunt for the truth carries them across prairies and canyons, past hired guns and traitors on both sides of the frontier. A young Terence Hill, still billed as Mario Girotti, appears in an early role, while Klaus Kinski supplies a streak of menace.

This second chapter of the famous series was directed by Harald Reinl from Karl May's novels — the books that shaped how generations of European readers imagined the frontier. It was shot in the mountains of Yugoslavia, which gives this Wild West an unusually rocky, green look. Best for fans of old-fashioned adventure cinema where the friendship between an Apache and a white frontiersman is the whole point, not the backdrop.
