Synopsis
The Abandoned (2015) is Eytan Rockaway's American horror-thriller, ready to watch online on iFILM. Julia Streak is barely holding her life together when she takes a night-shift security job in an empty luxury apartment block. The very first shift goes wrong.
Her partner is Cooper, a sour older man in a wheelchair who doesn't buy a word she says. Outside it pours; inside there are echoing corridors, sealed-off floors and doors that were better left shut. At first Julia blames the noises on nerves and medication. Then it sinks in that something is living in the bowels of the building — and it knows the floor plan better than she does. Louisa Krause carries most of the film on her shoulders, while Mark Margolis hands this small story a streak of real bile.
Rockaway leans on claustrophobia rather than jump scares: one building, two people, one long night. The story keeps tightening around the question that lingers longest in this kind of film — where reality stops and her own head takes over.
