Synopsis
Port of Call (踏血尋梅, 2015) is a Hong Kong crime drama directed by Philip Yung — watch it online on iFILM. The film is built around a real case: in 2008, a dismembered body was found in a flat in Hong Kong; the man who reported it had also committed the crime.
Detective Luo Fei (Aaron Kwok) arrives already knowing who did it. The question the film actually pursues is why. Philip Yung moves between the detective's painstaking interviews and the life of the girl — played by first-time actress Jessie Li — a teenage girl from the mainland who came to the city and found nothing waiting for her. Pakho Chau plays the suspect without softening or condemning him, which is precisely what makes the film so hard to shake.
