Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato (2019) is a feature-length anime you can watch online on iFILM in high quality. Director Tetsuro Araki drops us back into Hinomoto — a steam-age land of armored trains where humans hold off the Kabane, iron-hearted undead that shrug off ordinary weapons.

Six months have passed since the series ended. Ikoma, Mumei and the Kotetsujo crew reach Unato, a castle stronghold cut off from the rest of the country by a wall of fog and corpses. Its garrison is barely holding, so the heroes throw themselves into the fight to reclaim it. Battles play out along the rails and beneath the walls, and Mumei's old wounds start surfacing again.

This is really two TV episodes stitched into one film, so it lands best if you've seen the original series first — otherwise half the bonds between characters slip past you. What you do get is Wit Studio's signature look: dense steampunk design, sharp combat animation, blood and steam in every frame. One for fans of grim zombie action set on a train.
