Synopsis
Smugglers (2023) is a South Korean crime-action film you can watch online on iFILM. The coastal town of Kunchon, the 1970s. Local haenyeo divers go under without any gear and bring up seafood from the seabed — that catch is what keeps the whole village fed.
When a nearby factory shuts down and the old living dries up, friends Choon-ja and Jin-sook take on a new job: hauling smuggled goods. Crews drop the cargo into the water, and the women raise it from the deep. The trade swells fast, slips out of anyone's control, and tears apart the quiet town it once fed. Kim Hye-soo plays Choon-ja, Yum Jung-ah plays Jin-sook, with Jo In-sung as a slippery middleman. Director Ryoo Seung-wan shoots the underwater scenes with the same grip he'd give a gunfight on land.
A brisk, full-blooded genre ride built around two women, set out at sea instead of the usual streets, and carried by Ryoo's knack for pace. Stream Smugglers (2023) online on iFILM.
