Synopsis

The Berlin File (베를린, 2013) is a South Korean spy-action thriller directed by Ryoo Seung-wan — watch it online on iFILM. An arms deal collapses in Berlin, and North Korean operative Pyo Jong-seong (Ha Jung-woo) finds himself hunted from two directions at once: his own handlers want him gone, and South Korean intelligence agent Jeong Jin-su (Han Suk-kyu) has orders to finish the job.

Pyo tries to get his wife out of Germany alive. Meanwhile a professional assassin arrives from Pyongyang, and the streets of the German capital become a triangular trap where every player's loyalty is up for question. Jun Ji-hyun, as a figure who seems peripheral at first, proves to be the film's most dangerous variable.

Ryoo builds his tension through bureaucratic paranoia and shifting allegiances rather than wall-to-wall gunfights — which makes the action sequences, when they hit, feel earned. One of the biggest box-office draws in South Korea that year. Stream The Berlin File (2013) on iFILM.
