The Red Pill
A feminist's journey into the Men's Rights Movement
Synopsis
The Red Pill (2016) is an American documentary directed by Cassie Jaye that you can watch online on iFILM. Jaye started the project as a committed feminist intending to expose the Men's Rights Movement; what she found along the way complicated that plan considerably.
Over 118 minutes she interviews MRA activists, researchers, family court lawyers, domestic violence workers who deal with male victims, and feminists who wanted the film stopped before it was finished. Her own shifting perspective is part of the story — she is on camera enough that the audience tracks her discomfort, skepticism, and eventual uncertainty in real time. The film covers custody law, male suicide rates, sentencing disparities, and what it means to question an ideology you have built your identity around.
It caused a genuine uproar before release: petitions circulated to pull its crowdfunding. Screenings were cancelled under pressure at several universities. Whether you agree with its conclusions or not, it is the kind of documentary that generates arguments for days afterward. Watch The Red Pill (2016) online on iFILM.
