Synopsis
Bob Dylan – Don't Look Back (1967) is D. A. Pennebaker's documentary of Dylan's 1965 British tour — watch online on iFILM. Shot hand-held on 16mm with no script and no narration: hotel rooms, backstage corridors, and press conferences where a 24-year-old systematically dismantled every journalist who tried to corner him.
Dylan spars with reporters, trades time with Joan Baez, tolerates Donovan with studied calm, and holds court as Allen Ginsberg and manager Albert Grossman orbit around him. Pennebaker doesn't explain what he's filming. Something true about fame and performance becomes clear anyway.
This was among the first films to simply observe a musician at close range — before the format became an industry. Stream Bob Dylan – Don't Look Back online on iFILM.
