Synopsis
Spiral (2019) is a slow-burn horror from Canadian director Kurtis David Harder, and you can watch online on iFILM. The year is 1995, and a same-sex couple leaves the city for a quiet, postcard-perfect suburb with their teenage daughter.
Malik wanted peace. Instead, within days he finds a slur scrawled across the living-room wall. He paints over it and says nothing, hoping to spare his family — and that's where the dread takes root. The neighbors smile a beat too long, the friendly block hides a history no one will name, and his partner Aaron refuses to believe anything is wrong. The gap between them widens faster than the mystery resolves. Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman plays a man losing his grip on whether it's paranoia or the truth.
Harder works through atmosphere rather than jump scares, turning a tired move-to-the-suburbs setup into a story about the hatred tucked behind spotless lawns. Best for fans of unsettling thrillers in the Rosemary's Baby vein, where ordinary people are the scariest thing in the room. Stream Spiral (2019) online on iFILM.
