Synopsis

Broken Arrow (1950) is a classic American Western you can watch online on iFILM. Director Delmer Daves adapted Elliott Arnold's novel about the real peace negotiations between the US Army and the Chiricahua Apache in late 1870s Arizona.

James Stewart plays Tom Jeffords, a frontier scout who has had enough of the decade-long war. He learns Apache, rides alone into Cochise's camp, and builds enough trust to broker a ceasefire that lets mail coaches cross tribal land unharmed. Jeff Chandler plays Cochise with authority and patience, not as a villain to be conquered but as a leader weighing the survival of his people. Debra Paget is Sonseeahray, the Apache woman Jeffords marries — a choice that puts both of them in the crosshairs of settlers who want the fighting to continue.

For a studio Western of its era, this was an unusual film. The Apaches speak their own language, hold their own ceremonies, and are granted the film's moral intelligence. Daves keeps the violence grounded and the politics clear. Stream Broken Arrow (1950) online on iFILM.
