Synopsis
Children... (아이들…, 2011) is a Korean crime thriller from director Lee Kyu-man that you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on one of Korea's darkest cold cases: in the spring of 1991, five schoolboys from Daegu headed into the hills to catch frogs and were never seen alive again.
Years later, an ambitious TV producer named Kang Ji-seung (Park Yong-woo) seizes the story for a ratings hit, pushing a theory that one boy's own father is to blame. Around him circle a dogged detective and a university criminology professor (Ryu Seung-ryong) who would rather follow the evidence than the headline. The deeper the three of them dig, the clearer it becomes that the truth brings relief to no one here — not the families, and not the men hoping to build a name on someone else's grief.
Lee shapes this less as a whodunit than as a heavy drama about how a real tragedy gets repackaged for broadcast. It's worth a look for anyone who values Korean genre cinema in the vein of Memories of Murder — slow, angry and unwilling to flinch. Stream Children... (2011) online on iFILM.
