Synopsis
Brighton Rock (2010) is a British crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director Rowan Joffe moves Graham Greene's novel to 1964, when Mods and Rockers clashed along the English seafront, and hands the story to Pinkie — a teenage thug with a razor and a death wish wrapped in Catholic guilt.
Sam Riley plays the small-time gangster scrambling for a place at the top after a killing. A shy waitress named Rose (Andrea Riseborough) saw enough to sink him, so he marries her to keep her quiet — and ties himself to a woman whose love he can't return. Café owner Ida (Helen Mirren) refuses to let the death go and starts pulling at the threads.
John Hurt and Andy Serkis fill out the supporting ranks, while cinematographer John Mathieson shoots Brighton cold, grey and storm-lashed. This is no cozy period piece: it's about faith, sin and damnation, with romance that curdles. One for viewers who like their classic adaptations bleak. Stream Brighton Rock (2010) online on iFILM.
