Synopsis
King of the Ants (2004) is a blunt, unsettling crime thriller directed by Stuart Gordon — watch online on iFILM. Sean Crawley is a young drifter who picks up odd jobs until a construction contractor introduces him to the real boss: Ray Matthews, who needs an annoying accountant removed for $13,000. Sean takes the job. He delivers. He doesn't get paid.
What follows isn't a revenge film in any clean sense. Gordon — best known for Re-Animator — is interested in something colder: the idea that violence doesn't necessarily break a person, but sometimes reveals what was already there. George Wendt plays Matthews with an unsettling flatness, and the casting choice works precisely because it's wrong. The film earns its dark ending without flinching.
