Synopsis
The Broken (2008) is a British-French psychological horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director Sean Ellis built a slow-burn exercise in dread: a successful London radiologist named Gina spots her own double behind the wheel of her car on an ordinary afternoon, follows her, and walks away from a crash with something fundamentally wrong in her perception of the world.
After the accident, the people around her — played by Richard Jenkins and Melvil Poupaud — seem almost right, but not quite. Lena Headey carries the film almost entirely through the look on Gina's face as the familiar turns hostile: her flat, her boyfriend, her own mirror. Ellis shoots it all in extended quiet takes, letting unease build without puncturing it with jump-scares.
