The Cursed

The Cursed (2021) is a period horror-thriller you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Sean Ellis. Late nineteenth century, rural France. A landowning baron orders a Roma encampment massacred over a disputed plot of land. One dying woman speaks a curse before the end.

Within days, the baron's children share the same nightmare. One of his sons vanishes. A village boy turns up dead with wounds no animal could have made. Pathologist John McBride — Boyd Holbrook — arrives to investigate, carrying his own prior encounter with something similar. Kelly Reilly plays the baron's wife, the first member of the household to grasp that whatever has been set loose will not stop at the family line. The film is a French-American co-production.

Ellis builds dread through atmosphere and period detail rather than sudden jolts — the pacing is deliberate, closer to literary Gothic than mainstream horror.
