Synopsis
Sweet Dreams (Fai bei sogni, 2016) is an Italian-French drama directed by Marco Bellocchio that you can watch online on iFILM. Valerio Mastandrea plays Massimo, a war journalist whose entire adult life is quietly organised around a wound he has never looked at directly.
Turin, 1969. Nine-year-old Massimo loses his mother under circumstances nobody explains to him properly — the adults offer the church, silence, and a version of events he cannot fully accept. By the 1990s he is filing dispatches from Sarajevo, practised at absorbing other people's grief from a professional distance. Then panic attacks begin arriving without warning. Preparing to sell his childhood home forces him into contact with everything he buried. Bérénice Bejo plays Elisa, a doctor who offers conversation rather than prescription.
