Synopsis
On My Skin (Sulla mia pelle, 2018) is an Italian drama by director Alessio Cremonini you can watch online on iFILM. It reconstructs seven days in October 2009: Stefano Cucchi, a 31-year-old Roman with a minor drug charge against him, enters police custody and is found dead before the week is out. Alessandro Borghi takes the lead role, with Jasmine Trinca as his sister.
Cremonini doesn't go for courtroom drama or big speeches. The film moves slowly and close — methodical, almost like case documentation — as Cucchi's body deteriorates in cells and wards while his family tries to find out what is actually happening to him. Borghi lost eighteen kilograms for the part, and watching the physical toll accumulate on screen is genuinely hard to sit through. Legal proceedings in the Cucchi case ran for over a decade; convictions of the officers involved came only in 2022.
Released directly to Netflix in Italy, the film brought the case back into public debate with considerable force. It offers no catharsis and no tidy explanation — only an account, told without flinching, of what happened. Stream On My Skin (2018) online on iFILM.
