Good Morning, Night

Bellocchio tells the story through Chiara, a young female cell member whose outwardly ordinary life conceals the imprisoned statesman behind a bedroom door. As the days drag on, her certainty starts to crack. Maia Sansa plays Chiara with almost no visible seams — the performance works entirely through small hesitations and averted eyes. The director weaves in archival news footage and dream sequences, making the film feel less like a reconstruction of events and more like an autopsy of ideology.
