Synopsis
Shrink (2009) is a Hollywood comedy-drama directed by Jonas Pate that you can watch online on iFILM. Kevin Spacey plays Dr. Henry Carter, once the go-to therapist for Los Angeles celebrities, now a heavy-smoking pothead who shows up to sessions out of muscle memory and no longer believes he's fixing anyone.
His waiting room is a rotating cast of the city's most visibly broken: Robin Williams playing a version of himself, a troubled screenwriter fraying at the edges; Saffron Burrows as an actress mid-collapse; and Keke Palmer as a grieving teenager from a rough neighbourhood who gets referred to Carter and ends up being the only person who genuinely unsteadies him. The film runs in overlapping vignettes, each patient a different kind of lost.
It works because Spacey plays Carter with dry, bone-dry detachment — no redemptive breakdown, no neat turnaround. Quiet and unhurried, it's the kind of character study that rewards patience. Stream Shrink (2009) online on iFILM.
