A Simple Wish

A Simple Wish (1997) is Michael Ritchie's family fantasy comedy, ready to watch online on iFILM. Eight-year-old Anabel asks for a fairy godmother and instead gets Murray — a clumsy male fairy godmother played by Martin Short, whose magic wand keeps snapping in two.

Anabel's wish is a small one: she wants her cab-driver dad to land the lead in a Broadway musical. But Murray can barely work his magic, and a witch named Claudia (Kathleen Turner) is stealing wands across the fairy convention. Mara Wilson, fresh off Matilda, plays Anabel.
