Synopsis
Out to Sea (1997) is a breezy comedy from Martha Coolidge you can watch online on iFILM, pairing Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau one more time. Charlie talks his grumpy brother-in-law Herb onto a luxury cruise.
The pitch sounds great — meet wealthy single women, live large. Reality is a cramped cabin below deck and a job as paid dance hosts for the older passengers, all under a tyrannical cruise director. Things tangle further once Liz and Vivian come into the picture. Dyan Cannon, Brent Spiner and Rue McClanahan round out the cast.
This was one of the last films the Lemmon–Matthau duo made together, and their bickering is the whole show. Easygoing stuff for a quiet night, carried by old-pro charm more than plot. Stream Out to Sea online on iFILM.
