Synopsis
Truth or Consequences, N.M. (1997) is where Kiefer Sutherland made his directing debut; watch online on iFILM. Vincent Gallo plays Raymond Lembecke, out of prison after doing someone else's time — he took the drug rap for mob boss Tony Vago and served two years, expecting the debt to be remembered.
Vago hands him a warehouse job. Raymond steals a million dollars' worth of narcotics and runs, picking up hostages along the way, crossing New Mexico with law enforcement closing in and Vago's crew not far behind. Sutherland assembled a strong cast — Rod Steiger, Martin Sheen, Kevin Pollak, Kim Dickens — and plays a role himself. The film has the raw energy of a first-time director working with material he believes in: what happens when a person runs out of better options.
