Synopsis
Watch Dead or Alive: Final (2002) online on iFILM — the concluding chapter of Takashi Miike's transgressive trilogy, set in post-apocalyptic Yokohama in the year 2346. A brutal dictator controls the city through a network of cyborg enforcers and police who are barely distinguishable from them.
A hardboiled cop and a drifter end up on the same side after the cop's son is kidnapped. Sho Aikawa and Riki Takeuchi — the recurring pair of the series — are not adversaries this time, though their final confrontation arrives from a far stranger angle than in either of the first two films. Miike shoots the whole thing as if genre obligations are optional: the plot mechanics show up when useful, and the rest belongs to absurdist imagery and pure visual aggression.
