Synopsis
The Sweet Escape (Comme un avion, 2015) is a French tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. Michel, a fifty-year-old graphic designer, grows weary of his tidy city routine and decides to shake things up.
A lifelong admirer of the early airmail pilots and the aviator Jean Mermoz, Michel fixes on an unlikely plan: a solo kayak trip down a quiet river. The outing drifts off-course in the best possible way. He washes up at a riverside café, falls in with its owner Gina and a handful of local eccentrics, and a brief break from routine slowly becomes something he never bargained for.
Director Bruno Podalydès also takes the lead role, shaping an unhurried, charming midlife comedy built on dry wit and small pleasures rather than big drama.
