Synopsis
The Scandalous Lady W (2015) is a BBC period drama you can watch online on iFILM. Natalie Dormer stars as Lady Seymour Worsley, an aristocrat who set late-18th-century England talking like nothing before her.
Trapped in a loveless marriage to Sir Richard Worsley, Seymour runs off with his close friend, Captain George Bisset. Humiliated, Richard drags both of them into court and demands a fortune in damages for the "theft" of his wife. The trial backfires spectacularly: his own reputation goes on the line, and a woman the law treated as her husband's property turns the whole scandal into a weapon. Aneurin Barnard and Shaun Evans play the two men fighting over her.
Directed by Sheree Folkson, the film draws on the real 1782 criminal-conversation case and Hallie Rubenhold's book about Lady Worsley's life. Ninety minutes of one woman exposing the double standards of Georgian England, quite literally. A sharp pick for anyone who likes costume drama with bite.
