Synopsis
All Three of Us (Nous trois ou rien, 2015) is a French tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Kheiron pulled the story straight from his own parents' lives and cast himself as his father.
As a young man, Hibat fights the shah's regime in Iran, ends up jailed and tortured, then watches the revolution hand power to ayatollahs who prove no kinder than the king they replaced. With his wife Fereshteh, he chooses to start over from zero and resettles in a rough housing estate outside Paris. There the former political prisoner sets about fixing a whole neighborhood where nobody trusts anybody. Leila Bekhti plays Fereshteh, with Gerard Darmon as Hibat's father, and the mood swings from prison dread to living-room tenderness without ever dropping the humor.
What surprises most is that, for all the beatings, prisons and loss, this stays a comedy, warm and free of lecturing. A good fit if you loved personal family sagas like Persepolis told with a grin. Stream All Three of Us (2015) online on iFILM.
