Synopsis
The Accusation (Les Choses humaines, 2021) is a French courtroom drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Yvan Attal and based on Karine Tuil's award-winning novel of the same name.
Alexandre comes from exactly the kind of family that doesn't lose. His father is a prominent TV presenter; his mother writes celebrated feminist essays. At a house party he meets Mila, the daughter of his mother's new partner. The next morning she files a rape complaint. Two accounts of one night: one from a young man whose family shapes the story, one from a woman who has to fight to be heard. The media and the courts grind through both.
Attal cast his own son Ben as Alexandre and his partner Charlotte Gainsbourg as Alexandre's mother — a real-life echo that gives the film an unease no purely fictional casting could produce. Matthieu Kassovitz plays the father. Stream The Accusation (2021) online on iFILM.
