Synopsis
Trouble at Timpetill (Les Enfants de Timpelbach, 2008) is a French-Belgian family adventure film directed by Nicolas Bary that you can watch online on iFILM. Based on the classic German children's novel by Heinrich Hoffmann, the story starts simply: the adults of a small mountain village have had enough.
Fed up with their unruly kids, every parent quietly packs up and leaves town for a few days — no warnings, no instructions, just gone. The children inherit an entire village. Within hours, two rival factions form, resources become contested territory, and what began as a prank turns into something resembling a small civilization figuring itself out. Gérard Depardieu and Carole Bouquet head the adult cast; Adèle Exarchopoulos — years before Blue Is the Warmest Colour — appears among the children.
It plays as a light political parable wrapped in slapstick, and it earns both registers. Not preachy, genuinely funny in places, and moves at a clip that keeps younger viewers engaged. A solid pick for family viewing with kids aged eight and up. Watch Trouble at Timpetill online on iFILM.
