Synopsis
Words and Pictures (2014) is a sharp, warm-blooded romance you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Fred Schepisi and starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche as two teachers who can't stand each other on sight.
Jack is a burnt-out English teacher who still believes a good sentence can move mountains — and leans heavily on whiskey to prove it. Dina is a celebrated painter forced into the classroom by rheumatoid arthritis, working through physical pain with a brush and very little patience for Jack's charm. Their rivalry turns into a school-wide contest: words versus pictures, teachers versus each other, and somewhere in between, something unexpected.
Binoche did most of the actual painting seen on screen, which gives the film a texture you won't find in a typical rom-com. This Australian-Canadian production is best suited for viewers who like their love stories a bit bruised and their characters older than thirty. Stream Words and Pictures (2014) on iFILM.
