Synopsis
Wuthering Heights (2009) is a British drama you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from Emily Brontë's only novel. This two-part screen version was directed by Coky Giedroyc, with a young Tom Hardy cast as Heathcliff.
Taken in as an orphan by the wealthy Earnshaw household, Heathcliff grows up beside the family's daughter, Cathy (Charlotte Riley). What forms between them is fierce and hard for anyone else to read. Then Cathy chooses the safe match — Edgar Linton (Andrew Lincoln) — and a humiliated Heathcliff vanishes, only to come back rich and intent on making everyone pay. The damage spreads across the Earnshaws, the Lintons and the next generation too.
The story runs over two generations on a single grim idea: a love left unlived doesn't fade, it poisons. The real draw of this 2009 take is early Hardy, who plays Heathcliff less as a brooding romantic and more as a man warped by resentment.
