Accident

Accident (意外, 2009) is a Hong Kong thriller worth watching online on iFILM. A hitman known only as the Brain runs a crew with an unusual trade: they never pull a trigger. Instead they engineer a chain of small coincidences until the target dies in what looks like plain bad luck.

The method works until one job falls apart and one of his own men is killed. The Brain (Louis Koo) starts to wonder whether that "accident" was staged against his own team. From there the film becomes a duel of paranoia — he reads a threat into every frayed wire, puddle and loose object overhead, and you lose your footing right along with him.

Produced by Johnnie To, the picture carries the chilly fingerprint of his Milkyway studio: rain, long silences, barely any score. It premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
