The Evil Within

The Evil Within (2017) is an American horror film you can watch online on iFILM, and as the tagline warns, you can't run from a nightmare. It was the only movie Andrew Getty ever directed — the oil-fortune heir poured roughly fifteen years and his own money into it, and died before it was finished and released.

Dennis is a mentally impaired teenager left mostly alone. After their parents die, his older brother looks after him but is pulled away by work and a girlfriend, so the boy starts talking to his own reflection in an old antique mirror. The figure on the other side of the glass is sharper, stronger and far more persuasive than Dennis himself, and it begins steering him toward harming the people closest to him. What looks like a lonely child's fantasy turns out to be an ancient thing clawing to break through.

The cast includes Sean Patrick Flanery, Dina Meyer and The Hills Have Eyes veteran Michael Berryman. The film is murky, oppressive and genuinely odd, trading cheap jump scares for surreal dream sequences.
