Synopsis

Emperor Xuanzong is in mourning after the death of his wife. The Yang clan, eager for imperial influence, grooms a distant relative — a kitchen servant — and presents her to the emperor. He falls for her completely. Yang Kwei-fei is elevated to imperial consort, and instantly becomes the target of court intrigue, family ambition, and a general's resentment.
