Mikaela

On the eve of the Epiphany, a record blizzard grinds Spain to a halt, with highways frozen in miles of gridlock. A crew of young, armed robbers figures the chaos is perfect cover and hits an armoured van, betting they'll vanish before any patrol can reach them. What they don't know: stuck in the same jam are Leo, a burnt-out veteran officer with nothing left to lose, and Mikaela, a Civil Guard trainee. No backup, barely any signal, almost no odds — and the two have to learn to work as one to stop the heist. Antonio Resines plays Leo; Natalia Azahara is Mikaela.

Calparsoro, a long-time hand at Spanish genre cinema, seals the action inside a snow trap and squeezes the tension out of the tight space: there's nowhere to run, and every call costs.
