French Lover

French Lover (2025) is a romantic comedy directed by Lisa-Nina Rives — watch it online on iFILM. Omar Sy plays a film star who has spent too long being famous: bored, guarded and wandering Rome like a man hoping nobody notices him.

Sara Giraudeau's character is at a low point of her own, working a thankless waitressing job and nowhere near looking for anything. Their meeting is clumsy, not cinematic. What follows is a slow negotiation between two people who want something they won't quite admit to, complicated by the one thing the actor can't outrun: his own public profile. Pascal Arbillot and Alban Ivanov fill out the supporting cast with enough comic weight to keep the film from taking itself too seriously.
