Eternity

Eternity (Éternité, 2016) is a French melodrama from director Tran Anh Hung that you can watch online on iFILM. It follows three generations of women across roughly a hundred years, opening with Valentine's marriage in the final years of the 19th century.

Births, weddings, losses, then births again. The film is almost wordless: Tran Anh Hung tells the passage of time through light, fabric, gardens and faces, with a narrator carrying us across the decades. Audrey Tautou, Bérénice Bejo and Mélanie Laurent play women who love, bury the people they love, and pass life forward. The camera lingers on small things — a child's hand, the fold of a dress, a window onto a garden.
