Hard-bop trumpeter Lee Morgan was one of the most gifted musicians of his generation — and on a February night in 1972, he was shot dead at a Manhattan jazz club by his common-law wife, Helen.

Collin spent over a decade pulling the film together: concert footage, archival photographs, and new interviews with musicians who shared stages with Morgan — Wayne Shorter, Jymie Merritt, Bennie Maupin. The emotional centre is a 1996 recording of Helen talking about Lee, made months before her own death. She speaks quietly, the way someone does when they've carried something that long.
