The Invisible War
The Battleground Is Your Barracks
Synopsis
The Invisible War (2012) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Kirby Dick. It hands the microphone to US service members who were sexually assaulted while serving.
For most of them, the second wound cut deeper than the first: reports buried, cases quietly dropped, the chain of command shielding the very people responsible. Among the voices is Kori Cioca, a Coast Guard veteran whose assault left lasting physical damage. Rather than lecture, Kirby Dick and producer Amy Ziering build a cold, methodical case out of dozens of firsthand accounts and the Pentagon's own numbers.
After it took the Audience Award at Sundance, the film landed an Oscar nomination — and actually moved policy, with the Secretary of Defense rewriting how these cases get investigated within days of a screening. It's a hard watch, not background noise. Stream The Invisible War (2012) online on iFILM.
